Once my friend sent me a SMS which read as "karma karte rahoge to har mode pe HOPE hai! aankhe aaj bhi us kamine ko dhundhati hai jisne kaha tha, beta Science le lo bada SCOPE hai!"
its not particular to any discipline. every now and then the feeling of dissatisfaction haunts everyone of us. i feel the very basic thought underlying this is that everybody believes that in career, a particular path leads you to a particular standard of life and intellect. Its not that this is entirely wrong. education has a vital role in shaping one's career but that never has been the only factor. what is the scope for XYZ?? is the common question that comes in minds of all those who are at a deciding stage of their education and of course also their parents. this is the point when people forget to estimate their own abilities. all students in a class are never alike and never succeed in similar manner. those who drop out have a notion of incapability to perform as their peers and all those in the company of such individuals feel that there isn't any scope in that field. but those who are performing in the same field create different impression.
this is why 'Scope is to an individual!'
Scope of an individual depends on various attributes such as state of mind, grasping power etc. for this, education and other activities must be directed properly in the beginning by parents so as to make a child independent as early as possible. later on it depends upon the decisions taken by that child/adult by then. success of an individual depends a lot on decision making. i don't feel that today formal education, after certain level, is always necessary. one can be very rich even if he/she doesn't opt for higher studies. along with formal education a sense of maturity and confidence is important and as soon as one gets that, the person becomes a free bird. this gives one a very good decisive ability which in turn helps one in achieving whatever one wants to be. today all the educational qualifications and degrees are just for namesake. in jobs or any ventures, training and experience plays a lot of role than the textbook.
There are umpteen examples out there which emphasize that what you learn may be totally different from what you do to earn your living. in an organizational behavior it is practically impossible for a person to master all the things and then step out to work/ start with a venture. may be its time for the 'jacks' to take over-people who know a bit of everything, who can overlook every operation and every aspect which is done by respective masters. A successful businessman does the same, though he/she may not have any educational qualification of all those aspects.
this is why Scope is to an individual and not to a subject!
